Ryan Garcia Seeking to Regain his Credibility by Performing Great in the Ring

When it comes to lightweight boxer Ryan “King Ry” Garcia (21-0, 18 KO’s) the opinions on him vary more than the flavors at a Ben and Jerry’s ice cream factory. Some think he is the future, others believe him to be an unfocused socialite, and many more feel that he is meant only to be a temporary blip on boxing’s mainstream radar.

Ranked #3 (WBC), King Ry has earned a great deal of the skepticism focused on him. The popular Californian has done so by promising fantasy fights that never took place, abruptly withdrawing from bouts and talking louder than his resume suggests that he should. To date, his biggest win comes over Luke Campbell. Even in that bout, Garcia had to rise from the canvas to later claim victory. Now, following a 15-month hiatus from the ring, Garcia is slated to return to action on April 9 versus Emmanuel “The Gameboy” Tagoe (32-1, 15 KO’s).

FOCUSED ON ELEVATION

If he wins in style, then King Ry will be well back on his way to straightening out his career and securing the big fights. By the sound of it, as he explained to EsNews, this is exactly where his head is at.

“I’m just having fun, I’m enjoying my life! If I want to post a video, I am going to post a video. If not, then I am not. At the end of the day, I have already established myself in boxing, I am in that 1% that people know who I am! You cant take that away! Everybody has already heard about me. Really all I have left to do is perform great. And that’s what I am focused on, performing great.”

While the fight itself is not that monumental, it’s of extreme importance to Garcia. As he continues to rebuild his credibility with the boxing populace, it is imperative that he both look good and have no hiccups. A bad outing, or even worse, a straight up defeat, would be catastrophic for King Ry at this point in his professional journey. So, let’s see if there are blue skies and sunshine in his immediate future or if the thunder clouds overhead will become more calamitous than ever. In either case, 3Kings Boxing will be here to report the news!
