The verbal jabs between Floyd Mayweather and Ryan Garcia about a Gervonta Davis clash continue
Even in retirement, Floyd Mayweather can send the boxing community into a buzz! In response to junior lightweight Ryan Garcia calling out Gervonta Davis, the flamboyant promoter issued the young prospect a challenge!
“Well, I’m putting up the money right now if Garcia can beat Rolly [Rolando Romero], I’ll give him $200,000 cash.
“If he lose I don’t want him to ever say Tank [Gervonta Davis] name again, if he gets pass Rolly he gets Tank.”

Read about Garcia’s comments after watching Davis’ knockout of Hugo Ruiz here. Those comments shifted heavy focus on the 20 year-old within the boxing community where many fans feel he’s not ready.
He feels otherwise!
“On the Floyd situation, you have always been the biggest mouth in the room. Talk is real real cheap!
“No more talk! Actions speak louder than words. I will fight your fighter but I’m going to need $1 million if I knock him out and I’ll take that $200K to beat him.”
Ryan Garcia
The WBA #4 rated contender is not going to back down and is extremely confident he has the ability to beat the super champion. By accepting the challenge with a follow-up demand puts the ball in Mayweather’s court.
Is This a Realistic Match-Up?
However before we go too far, let’s remember Golden Boy Promotions will have a say in this. Most of the fighters from that stable mainly fight on DAZN and given recent events there have been plenty of issues.
Promoter Eddie Hearn and Mayweather promotions have gone back and fourth about making a unification fight featuring Davis against IBF champion Tevin Farmer. Both promoters want the fight to be exclusive to their respective platforms/network.
Furthermore, Oscar De La Hoya has some bad blood with Mayweather as well. Therefore, a compromise will need to be in place before a fight is made.
Nevertheless, Garcia will have to deal with upcoming opponent Jose Lopez. The bout is scheduled to take place March 30 at the Fantasy Springs Casino in Indio, California.
