The entire boxing community is waiting for the sport to hurry up recover and begin to fight back the COVID-19 pandemic so that things can get back to normal. However, it has been entertaining to see the fighters and promoters taking to social media and being more accessible to fans.

Furthermore, with all the downtime fighters have, it also gives the community and fans a more in-depth peek into their daily routine. This has kept the sport alive during these troublesome times of uncertainty.

WBC lightweight champion “In-recess” Devin “The Dream” Haney (24-0, 15ko) has been benefitting heavily from the global lockdown of the sport. The Dream has made it clear that the title still belongs to him , while clapping back at recent sparring comments by former unified junior welterweight champion Amir “King” Khan (34-5, 21ko).

However, it is the ongoing war of words with Golden Boy Promotions’ Ryan “KingRy” Garcia (20-0, 17ko) that has fans excited about the future of the sport and ready for things to resume as quickly as possible.

Haney has made it clear on several occasions he wants a fight with his amateur rival and along with his father Bill Haney, got in the face of Hall of Fame fighter Bernard “B-Hop” Hopkins demanding a fight with the top prospect.

Garcia is being groomed as the heir to the Canelo Alvarez throne. Whenever boxing’s biggest earner steps away from the sport, he is primed to pick up the mantle and carry the Golden Boy flagship into the future.

Furthermore, the brash young prospect is also confident in his own right about his ability and has called for fights with some of the bigger names, while expressing that despite having a championship, the WBC champion “Has a lot of catching up to do.”

When fighters have that itch to fight each other, it isn’t something that goes away until they meet inside the squared circle, so it shouldn’t surprise anyone that these two men are still going at it.

Garcia took to social media to reveal the most recent text message from his arch-rival and asked a higher power to help end the COVID-19 epidemic.
