Gervonta Davis Arrest May Jeopardize Hector Luis Garcia Fight
Is the upcoming contest between WBA regular lightweight champ Gervonta “Tank” Davis (27-0, 25, KOs) and WBA junior lightweight champion Hector Luis Garcia (16-0-3, 10 KOs) suddenly on thin ice? According to TMZ, Davis is currently in Broward County, Florida jail. Local authority records reveal that on the evening of December 27, Tank was arrested and charged with one count of domestic battery.
The two champions are signed to fight each other on January 7, 2023, in Washington, DC. Davis has been training for the bout in Maimi, Floria. This latest development could throw a monkey wrench into that contest.
HISTORY OF TROUBLE
It’s not Davis’ first run-in with the law. In February 2020, the 28-year-old was arrested and charged with domestic assault in Miami. However, the charges were ultimately withdrawn earlier this month. He is due in court in his hometown of Baltimore on February 2023 for his supposed involvement in a November 2020 hit-and-run.
As far as this latest incident in Florida, there have been no further details regarding his arrest as of this writing. Davis is due to appear in front of a judge on January 28. How this will affect his upcoming fight with Garcia is a serious question. Stay tuned to 3KingsBoxing for further updates on this developing and fluid situation.
