Gervonta Davis & Regis Prograis trade words on Twitter!
There is a new war of words going on again on social media! In the latest virtual showdown, you have a familiar face in WBA Regular Lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis (24-0, 23KOs) taking on former WBA Junior Middleweight champion Regis “Rougarou” Prograis (25-1, 21KOs). This all started after the question of who would win between the two was posed by an Australian boxing account.
TANK IMMEDIATELY GETS DISRESPECTFUL!
Instead of ignoring the tweet, Davis decided to not only answer but answer in a disrespectful and dismissive manner! He would label Prograis as a “bum”! Those words are highly disrespectful and it quickly got the attention of the Louisiana native, who would return fire! Prograis would call Tank a “Lil Boy”, telling him if he is not serious then do not speak his name. He also teased Davis about his promoter, Floyd Mayweather, not daring to let such a dangerous fight happen.
Davis is currently in talks to move up to junior welterweight to fight WBA regular champion Mario Barrios. A win could indeed set up a possible showdown with Prograis if Davis is serious. Unfortunately, I personally do not feel too much confidence in this fight materializing. Davis has yet to face a fighter who is considered on his level. Prograis, a big puncher with a mean streak, would be by far his toughest, best and most dangerous opponent.
Prograis would take the fight in a heartbeat knowing that Tank is a marquee name in the sport. He also feels that it may bring him Adrien Broner, who is a close friend of Davis and was labeled by Prograis as Davis’ “big sister”. This comes as no surprise as the two have called each other out numerous times, recently and in the past.
Again, while this is all entertaining and fun, it is also tiring that fighters go back and forth with fights not coming together. Let’s hope this situation is different!
3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
