Gervonta Davis Gets His Name Cleared By Child’s Mother
On December 28, WBA “regular” lightweight champion Gervonta “Tank” Davis’ (27-0, 25KO) mother of his child, Vanessa Posso accused him of striking her during a frantic 911 call. After being arrested and then released on bail for domestic violence, Davis dropped a since-deleted social media post attempting to explain the situation. Well, it seems he is receiving a level of vindication after Posso took to social media to clear his name of any wrongdoing.
Additionally, fans wondered if Showtime was going to pull the plug on the fight with WBA 130-pound super champion Hector Garcia (16-0-3, 10KO) on January 7.
DAVIS VS GARCIA MAY NO LONGER BE IN JEOPARDY
Davis has shown that the stress from all this commotion was taking a toll, as he posted about not wanting to fight anymore. However, the statement from Posso should make Showtime breathe a little easier.
Now the question will be what effect will this play on the WBA champion’s mental state with less than a week until the Garcia fight? These types of distractions are never good. Moreover, his time spent away from training to deal with this situation can be costly.
This has been one hell of a way to end the year for the Baltimore power-puncher. Providing the fight goes forward according to plan, Tank’s every move will be heavily monitored by the boxing community.
