Gilberto Ramirez Grossly Misses Weight for Gabe Rosado Fight

One-time light heavyweight title challenger Gilberto “Zurdo” Ramirez (44-1, 30KO) is burning up social media for missing weight so badly that the fight with veteran Gabriel Rosado (2616-1, 15KO) was canceled.

Zurdo was looking to bounce back after suffering his first career defeat at the hands of WBA champion Dmitry Bivol in November 2022. According to ESPN, Ramirez’s unofficial weight was 182.6 pounds before the weigh-in, which is grossly unprofessional. Several pundits wonder if the former WBO super middleweight champion intended to fight at all.

Many inside the boxing community considered this to be an easy fight for a comeback as Rosado is coming off a three-fight losing streak since scoring a highlight reel knockout over Bektermir Melikuzievin 2021.

There is no excuse for coming in that high over the weight limit. Boxing fans will begin to ask how much that Bivol defeat may have affected him mentally. Boxing is full of fighter’s that have a hard time overcoming their first defeat, especially if they were severely outclassed or knocked out. Moreover, he has struggled to make weight before in the past, hence the move up to light heavyweight. Ramirez will be under a serious microscope over the next few weeks.

Golden Boy Promotions took to social media to inform the fans the Ramirez – Rosado bout is canceled.
