After weeks of reporting, Gennady Golovkin has finally put pen to paper and joined DAZN!

Rumors that former middleweight king Gennady Golovkin would be signing a deal with DAZN seem to have come to fruition!

Industry sources are reporting Golovkin and DAZN came to terms in the early hours of Thursday morning. The deal alleged to be for six fights worth eight figures per fight.

Golovkin, who’s inactivity has confused fans due to his usual steady schedule, will be fighting twice a year to sum up the deal. The first bout is expected to be in June.

This is a huge signing for the network and it was an absolute no brainer for both sides. The man they call “GGG” is still one of the biggest names in the sport. Nearly all of the middleweight division’s top fighters have contracts with DAZN.

A potential trilogy with rival Canelo Alvarez was worth too much to leave up to cross network negotiating. A rematch with Danny Jacobs or a WBO title fight with Demetrius Andrade are compelling fights as well.

Final details of the report will surely be rolled out with the official announcement likely to be made on Monday in Los Angeles.

It was initially speculated that a deal between Golovkin and DAZN would see him receive equity in the company. This would ultimately allow for the growth of his promotional company, “GGG promotions” on the DAZN app.

Details on whether that is still in place haven’t been revealed yet.

Nevertheless, it’s a good thing that one of boxing’s most noticeable faces has found a home. In addition, even at 36 years-old, he is still a major player at middleweight.

Stay tuned as all the news about the DAZN/Gennady Golovkin relationship funnels in!
