Gonzalez looking to return Sept. 15th!

Four-time champion and former Ring Magazine #1 ranked fighter in the world Roman “Chocolatito” Gonzalez is looking to make a return to the ring on the undercard of Canelo/GGG.

Gonzalez is coming off two consecutive losses to Ring Magazine #6 ranked fighter in the world Srisaket Sor Rungvisai. The last of the two was a brutal knockout in the fourth round, which has lead to his current stretch of inactivity.

After the fight, the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) mandated Gonzalez undergo neurological testing. In May, the CSAC suspended him indefinitely as a formality before requiring him to be retested due to his inactivity.

His suspension was recognized by all regulators affiliated with the Association of Boxing Commissions. This meant that he could not receive a boxing license in the U.S. until the CSAC lifted the suspension.

To add on to his problems, he had three different dates scheduled to obtain a work VISA in the U.S. All three hearings were subsequently cancelled.

It is assumed Gonzalez is in the process of rectifying these problems before committing to an opponent and date. If he does, this would be his 2018 debut.

Possible opponents are Pedro Guevara or Moises Fuentes.
