Gonzalez vs Alejo will battle in another classic Puerto Rico vs Mexico rivalry

Boxeo Telemundo has hosted some great fights while showcasing the latin culture for all the world to see. The main event for November 16 features Jonathan Gonzalez (21-2-1, 12KOs) vs Juan Alejo (24-5-1, 14KOs) in a classic Puerto Rico vs Mexico rivalry.

Gonzalez, (27), is on a three fight win streak while holding the WBO NABO flyweight title. This will be a huge opportunity for the young fighter to prove how far he has come since losing to Jobert Alvarez in 2016.

The Puerto Rican boxer has used the Telemundo platform to climb the rankings. A victory against a former world title challenger could land him a showdown against WBO champion Kosei Tanaka in 2019.

Alejo (34), is more than capable of an upset. The two-time title challenger will have the height and experience advantage.

Sharing the ring with top talent like Donnie Nietes and Angel Acosta, a victory will keep his career alive. However, a lose could result in the window closing for the aging veteran.

INTERESTING FACTS

Gonzalez’s professional debut bout was a victory over an opponent with the same name.

Alejo is a former WBC FECOMBOX light flyweight champion who has fought twice in the United States.

This will be for the vacate WBO latino title at the Osceola Heritage Center in Kissimmee, Florida.
