Goulamirian will defend his Interim title against Flanagan
3kingsboxing has been informed by Australian affiliate Boxing Broadcasts about a WBA interim cruiserweight title bout between undefeated Arsen Goulamirian (23-0, 15 KOs) and Mark Flanagan (24-5, 17 KOs).
Goulamirian (30) ranks #1 in the WBA and is emerging as a force in the division. No better time than now for the hard-hitting fighter from France to make a move in the division.
Capturing the interim WBA title with an impressive victory over then-undefeated contender Ryad Merhy has gained the attention of the boxing community.
Flanagan (28), is no stranger to big fights. He competed for a world title against then WBA super champion Denis Lebedev in 2017.
The Australian boxer currently ranked #10 by the WBA would like nothing more than to play spoiler. A victory would be huge for his career and possibly set up another shot at a world title.
INTERESTING FACTS
Goulamirian also holds the WBA Continental title and has knockout his last three opponents. This will be his first defense of his title. In addition, he is trained by Abel Sanchez and frequently spars former WBA and IBF champion Murat Gassiev.
Flanagan has only fought outside of Australia once and lost. Currently he holds the WBA Oceania Cruiserweight title and has made two successful defenses.
Goulamirian has a slight edge in power, height and home crowd advantage, while Flanagan will have the advantage in experience.
This bout will take place at Palais des Sports, Marseille on October 20.
