George Groves addresses Carl Frampton!
Social media seems to be the place where beefs are made public and the most recent outbreak isn’t any different.
Former WBA Supermiddleweight champion George “Saint George” Groves (28-4, 20ko), has taken to social media to set the record straight about statements made by former two-divisional champion Carl “The Jackal” Frampton.
Frampton, suggested that the former WBA champion had quit against Callum Smith in the finals of the World Boxing Super Series tournament in September 2018.
Infuriated, the former WBA champion unleashed on his former stablemate with extreme prejudice.
Understand the ultimate insult a fighter can label on another fighter is a”quitter!” Many inside the boxing brotherhood can tell you those are instant fighting words!
Both men were once under the same banner of Barry McGuigan of Cyclone Promotions. It’s not uncommon for former stablemates to having a failing out this shouldn’t surprise anyone. However, back in 2017 the former WBA champion in an interview with a local newspaper stated.
“Frampton must have felt that it was time to move on. I bet the things he’s probably gutted about is now not working with Shane McGuigan.”
The Jackal probably took exception to this an kept it stored in the memory bank for later. Sometimes when partying ways there are things that are hidden from public view.
Furthermore the former two-divisional world champion did respond once word got around of the current tongue lashing.
