Hamzah Sheeraz Stops Austin Williams After a Rough Start
In a WBC middleweight title eliminator, WBC silver titlist Hamzah Sheeraz (20-0, 16KO) overcame an early scare to stop Austin “Tiger” Williams (16-1, 11KO).
Tiger came out on fire and landed the left hand that had Sheeraz hurt early. He continued to attack throwing a barrage of punches as his opponent didn’t move the head off the centerline. Then Sheeraz turned things around by using that long jab that put Williams on the backfoot. He even landed a strong right hand that buckled the knees of the Texan.
Sheeraz took control of the fight in the middle rounds with that pole-like jab. He snapped back Williams’ head repeatedly, causing the right eye to swell up. In addition, the Brit was successful on the inside landing the uppercuts, hooks, and body shots.
In round nine, Williams was coming on strong before getting put down by a counter right hand. As the fight continued, Sheeraz’s jab was lethal before landing a barrage of shots that forced the referee to stop the fight in the eleventh round.
It was a good win on a big stage for Sheeraz, who could look to challenge WBC champion Carlos Adames.
