Luke Campbell-Devin Haney set for July 27, pending approval by WBC and a win from Haney!
3kingsboxing.comhas learned a deal has been agreed to for Luke Campbell and Devin Haney to fight for the vacant WBC lightweight title.
This of course is contingent upon the WBC approving to sanction the bout and Haney winning his scheduled bout against Antonio Moran in his DAZN debut on May 25.
We previously reported that Haney had finalized a deal with Eddie Hearn to join DAZN. The likelihood of a fight with Campbell for the vacant title being one of the key motivations.
Many view Haney as one of the sport’s future superstars. The deal with DAZN is looking like the correct move to make the projection a reality.
As for Campbell he’s a former world title challenger and former Olympic Gold Medalist.
He’s been in the ring with former multi-weight champion Jorge Linares losing a split decision in a competitive fight for the WBA lightweight title back in September of 2017.
This fight will tell us a lot about both men. In particular, where they stand moving forward in a very intriguing lightweight division. Furthermore, the winner is more than likely going to get a shot at unified champion Vasiliy Lomachenko!
3kingsboxing.comwill continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
