Devin Haney Claims Destruction of Regis Prograis’ Career

In his last tour of duty, two-time champion Regis “Rougarou” Prograis (29-3, 24 KO’s) handily lost to Jack Catterall. While supplying his post-fight interview, somewhat surprisingly, Prograis announced his retirement from boxing. Upon hearing the news, his previous opponent, former junior welterweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (31-0, 15 KO’s), took full credit for the implosion of Prograis’ career.

BUMP IN THE ROAD OR END OF THE LINE?

During the duel with Catterall, Prograis was outwitted with footwork, out-jabbed, suffered some manner of leg injury and was put on the canvas twice. Even in the face of these adversities, Rougarou did enjoy some success and carried a number of rounds. This was not the case when he faced Haney and lost every round on all three judges cards over twelve full rounds.

Since their in-ring clash, Haney and Rougarou have kindled something of an on-going feud. This is mainly due to Prograis voicing his opinion that even though he is devoid of any evidence, he believes that Haney cheated when they fought. With this being the case, it’s not surprising to see Haney pop up online to smear Prograis’s nose into his unsavory setback.

When they fought however, while The Dream certainly did control Prograis and enjoy his fair share of offensive success, the fight didn’t feel as though it was shaving significant time off of Prograis’ tenure as a boxer. It will be interesting to see if Rougarou has any rebuttal to Haney’s statement or if he simply fades quietly into the night.
