Devin Haney Reminds Garcia That he Quit Publicly Against Tank

In the build-up for their upcoming showdown, WBC junior welterweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (31-0, 15KO) reminded “King Ry” Ryan Garcia (24-1, 20KO) of the time when he didn’t want to continue fighting.

It continues to get heated between the two fighters, as they’ve traded jabs on social media. The Dream claimed that his arch-rival’s behavior is that of a diva during the first press conference. The verbal jabs have only gotten worse over the next couple of weeks.

So, it only made sense the two would escalate things in their recent press conference. The conversation of a sparring session with multi-divisional champion Abdul Wahid formerly, Gervonta “Tank” Davis was the focus argument Garcia used to talk about Haney almost getting stopped.

LIKE IT OR NOT HE SPOKE THE TRUTH

Yet, Haney quickly reminded the challenger of the famous moment when Garcia quit in the ring against Tank.

“Devin was getting his ass knocked out.”

Ryan Garcia

“We watched Tank knock you out. The world seen Tank knock you out, you quit…the world seen you take a knee and quit like a bitch.”

The truth is that leaked tapes of guys sparring when they were young mean nothing in the present. Haney is far from the fighter on the tape. In addition, he is right. Regardless of what happened in that sparring session, Garcia quit when it mattered the most.

Garcia has claimed that he has been trolling Haney with his recent antics. Following their press conference, he posted one clip of the infamous sparring session that shows Davis getting the better of the WBC champion.

The rules used to be that what happened in sparring stayed in the gym. It seems that code no longer applies to this generation. Yet, King Ry is winning the battle of the mind games. Now let’s see if that translates to a victory on April 20.
