Devin Haney Expects to Showcase his Arsenal in Kambosos Rematch!
When undisputed lightweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (28-0, 15 KO’s) traveled to Australia, he envisioned big things. This is exactly what he got. Once in the Land Down Under, The Dream was warmly embraced by the people, outclassed their champion and flew home with every belt in the division.
Now that his rematch with “Ferocious” George Kambosos (20-1, 10 KO’s) is barreling down on him, the Californian Kid can’t see why he will be any less successful in the second showdown. In fact, during a recent Q&A with Fight Hype, Haney admits he barely had to do anything to beat Kambosos in the first affair.
“I’ve shared the ring with him for twelve rounds, so I know what he is going to bring to the table. It may be a little different because it’s going to be some things that he is going to tweak and try to change his game plan up, obviously. The world knows that, so that’s not a surprise. But, like I said, in that first fight I didn’t show my whole arsenal.
A lot of people saw that I won with the jab, that was the key in that fight. But going into the fight that really wasn’t the game plan, honestly. I didn’t showcase everything that we worked on because I didn’t really need to, to be honest.”
IT’LL ONLY BE WORSE!
Now that Kambosos has nothing to lose, Haney is picturing a much more aggressive adversary this time around. Yet, this would actually be right up The Dream’s alley.
“With this fight, with the type of style and the type of game plan that he’s going to bring to the table, I will be able to showcase everything. Because we all know that he is going to try to be a lot more active and physical and that will lead to a lot of openings for me.”
If this prophecy turns out to be true, then it will certainly be another rough night in the Outback for Kambosos. In the meantime though, it will be revealing to hear how the very vocal Ferocious Kambosos responds to these bold sentiments.
