Devin Haney: My shoulder is healing, getting better everyday!
WBC Lightweight champion in recess Devin “The Dream” Haney (24-0, 15KOs) gave fight fans an update on the progression his right shoulder.
In an interview with YouTube personality Trill Boxing Talk, Haney revealed the progression of his recent shoulder surgery and went into detail about the potential risk of prolonging surgery.
“My shoulder is healing and getting better and better everyday. You know I made with this process, because I knew I was going to be out a while. So when I comeback, I want to be 100%.
“I don’t want to speed up the process or rush my way back into it. I knew it was a serious injury when it happened. I knew that it was something that was just regular.”
He also spoke on the potential damage had surgery been postponed.
“When I went and got surgery, they told me it was some tears in it and that maybe it was a 95 percent chance that it would pop out again.”
One of boxing’s best young fighters will have to spend the first half of 2020 as a spectator while he recovers from surgery. While that may sound like a total bad thing, there’s a silver lining or two to think about.
At 21-years-old, Haney has a bright future still ahead of him and he can continue to sharpen his knowledge outside of the ring and scout potential future foes like Ryan Garcia, Teofimo Lopez, Gervonta Davis and the biggest fish out of all the top lightweight mentioned, Vasiliy Lomachenko.
3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor the progression of Devin Haney’s rehab and provide updates as they become available.
