Eddie Hearn Makes A Controversial Comment About Gervonta Davis

Promoter Eddie Hearn is under fire after a failed attempt at paying Gervonta “Tank” Davis (28-0, 26KO) a compliment. Hearn was amazed by Tank’s mental toughness in not allowing a domestic battery allegation to distract him from defeating WBA junior lightweight champion Hector Luis Garcia on January 7.

The two-time junior lightweight champ was falsely accused by the mother of his child, Vanessa Posso, of striking her. Initially, he mentioned not wanting to fight anymore before. This changed after getting vindicated in the court of public opinion after Posso took to social media to clear his name of any wrongdoing.

THE COMMENT THAT SPARKED AN OUTRAGE

Hearn did a poor job of expressing his thoughts during an interview on the DAZN Boxing Show.

“Any normal human being, having gone through what he went through in the last couple of weeks, probably would have just called the fight.

“This is one of the things that makes him [Davis] as dangerous as he is. He’s not a deep thinker, he’s not an articulate young man. He’s a bad kid. I don’t mean that in a disrespectful way. I’m talking about this is a kid, he’s a bad motherfucker […] and that makes him very, very dangerous.”

Boxing fans on social media are attacking the British promoter in droves! In trying not to sound disrespectful, he should have known saying someone is not “articulate” or a “deep thinker” will look negative in any situation.
