Eddie Hearn Says Golden Boy Won’t Even Discuss Ryan Garcia Fighting Devin Haney
While lightweight pugilist Ryan “King Ry” Garcia (21-0, 18 KO’s) is a well-known personality and popular on social media, his boxing reputation is taking a beating. Due to pulling out of fights and squelching other promised dustups, King Ry has obtained a ‘got to see it to believe it’ reputation. Despite this, Garcia insists that he is still a serious competitor and wants to prove he is the best. Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn feels very differently!
According to Hearn, King Ry would rather do just about anything than climb in the ring with his charge, WBC lightweight champion Devin “The Dream” Haney (27-0, 15 KO’s). One doesn’t have to take Hearn at his word though. It is well-documented public knowledge that, at one point, Garcia was Haney’s mandatory and a fight that the Dream welcomed with open arms. Despite this direct route to a title shot, Garcia sidestepped the opportunity. He has yet to compete since squandering the chance.
“Bullshit! They [Golden Boy Promotions] would never put Ryan Garcia in with Devin Haney, never, ever, ever! They were mandatory already, they beat Luke Campbell, who is a great fighter, to become the mandatory to Devin Haney. DAZN said, ‘let’s make that fight.’ It’s a massive fight, they could have fought for the world title [but] they didn’t want it. Not even consider it, not even discussed it! There is no way Ryan Garcia fights Devin Haney, no way!”
TIME TO SHOW AND PROVE!
First, on April 9, Garcia must topple his upcoming foe, Emmanuel Tagoe, in dominant fashion. Once done, was can then realistically resume speculative diatribes on who King Ry should knuckle-up and duke it out with next.
In the meantime however, not to be funny, but let’s just make sure that Garcia does actually make it to the ring this time around. If not, then any further talk about the troubled young fighter is a moot point anyway. Luckily, regardless of the outcome, 3Kings Boxing will be there to report the news!
