Eddie Hearn discloses date and location details for Ruiz – Joshua II

3KingsBoxing has been keeping you abreast of all developments regarding the highly anticipated rematch between unified heavyweight champion Andy Ruiz and former champ Anthony Joshua.

Well, here’s a further update! Matchroom Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn has given further details, disclosing what he feels will be the likely location and fight date.

During a sit-down interview on the 5 live Boxing BBC Radio Show with Costello &amp Bunce, Hearn said that within the next few days he will alert the handlers of Andy Ruiz as to where the rematch will take place.

While he said nothing is set in stone, the Principality Stadium in Cardiff, Wales is the front-runner as far as location with December 14 being the targeted date. If the rematch were to land in the United States Hearn said the bout would take place at MSG on November 29.

When asked whether he advised Joshua to take a tune-up bout, Hearn said that in an ideal world he would like Joshua to partake in a tune-up. However, Joshua is adamant on engaging in a rematch ASAP as he believes he’s the better fighter and will regain his titles.

During the interview, the promoter debunked rumors of Joshua reaching out to Cuban trainer Ismael Salas about training him for the rematch. Robert McCracken will stay on and remain his trainer.

Now what’s interesting here is on July 24 Ruiz said he would not go to the UK for a Joshua rematch in reaction to rumors of Dillian Whyte failing a drug test prior to his July 20 win over Oscar Rivas.

So in spite of Ruiz’ claims, according to Hearn, all roads lead to the fight happening in the UK. This is certainly a fluid and evolving situation, so stay tuned in to 3KingBoxing for any and all breaking news on this upcoming fight.
