Herich Ruiz Remains Undefeated After Beating Travorus Barnes
In a heavyweight battle that featured two undefeated prospects, Herich Ruiz (6-0, 4KO) cruised to victory over Travorus “The Bear” Barnes (6-1, 5KO).
The Cuban used that amateur background and fought well behind the jab with high-level footwork. Although there wasn’t much action, Ruiz was on the front foot throughout the fight, landing hard shots to the body.
Barnes did land a few solid counters, but he was fighting off the backfoot, which nullified his offense. Once he realized that The Bear had no answer for his combination punches, Ruiz took over the fight. He kept coming forward with the jab, feints, and hard shots down the middle.
Even when Barnes tried to fight back, the Cuban quickly regained control and used aggressive punches to close out the fight. When the final bell sounded, two judges scored it 79-73, and one judge saw it 80-72 in favor of Ruiz.
In boxing, you must win and look good in the next fight. Hopefully, the amount of offensive aggression he showed in the last few rounds will be more visible next time.
