Jamel Herring Feels Rolly Romero Takes Tank Davis Past the Halfway Mark!
Ever since the Gervonta “Tank” Davis (26-0, 24KOs) and Rolando “Rolly” Romero (14-0, 12KOs) fight was rescheduled for May 28, the predictions for the outcome of the fight have been pretty one-sided and predictable. Both men possess fight-ending power, evident by their high knockout percentages. However, power isn’t the only factor that should be a main talking point, at least when it comes to Davis.
A multiple-weight world champion, Davis comes into this fight with much more experience and is the more skilled fighter. While his power is to be respected, it’s not the only thing he has going for himself. Tank’s ability to box also makes him dangerous. Furthermore, given the fact that Romero lacks big fight experience, one has to wonder how he will react to adversity. Rolly is supremely confident that his power will see him to victory, which would be a huge upset. However, with many detractors simply not impressed with his in-ring work to this point, they view him as another early knockout victim of Davis.
But not everyone shares that line of thinking. Former WBO 130-pound champ Jamel Herring told Fight Hub TV he couldn’t predict Rolly getting knocked out early due to the unknown status of how his chin would hold up.
DON’T UNDERESTIMATE ROLLY’S CHIN!
“Nah, you know what? I can’t call it, because I haven’t really seen Rolly’s chin be tested yet […] I say, look at Gervonta’s last fight against a hard fighter in Cruz, who was a durable guy. Maybe Rolly will have a granite chin as well, but I just think that it goes over six, at least. I think it goes over six […] I think Rolly gets through the halfway mark.”
Obviously, we don’t know how either man’s chin will hold up once the punches start landing. For one, Rolly is not lacking any confidence in his ability and chances of winning against Davis as May 28 quickly approaches. One thing is certain: we’ll learn a lot about both men when they fight.
