Hiroto Kyoguchi Set To Fight On The Estrada v Gonzalez II Undercard

Matchroom Boxing made waves on December 24, 2020 when they inked a multi-fight promotional deal with WBA and Ring Magazine World Light Flyweight champion Hiroto Kyoguchi (14-0. 9 KOs). Now, word has come that his first fight with the promotional company will also be his debut in the United States.

According to source Asian Boxing, the 27-year-old resident of Tokyo will fight Mexican Axel Aragon Vega (14-3-1, 8 KOs) on March 13. The bout will take place on the undercard of the junior bantamweight unification bout between WBC world champion Juan Francisco Estrada and WBA ‘Super’ world champion Roman Gonzalez.

Kyoguchi previously was set to fight Thanongsak Simsiri (14-0, 12 KOs) of Thailand on November 3, 2020. However, the bout was canceled due to the champion testing positive for COVID-19. Simsiri still is contractually obligated to fight Kyoguchi. However, his handlers are allowing the champion to fight Vega with the understanding that they will face the winner.

Fans unaware of the Japanese world champion should enjoy what he brings to the table. He is an aggressive, exciting fighter with power in both hands. Plus, he has a humble and infectious personality outside of the ring. This is Vega’s second attempt at a world title. In October 2019, he was stopped in seven rounds by current WBO Strawweight champ Wilfredo Mendez.
