IBF admits error in mandatory ruling for Canelo Alvarez vs Sergiy Derevyanchenko!
Recently, the IBF came out and admitted they made an error in ruling that newly crowned IBF middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez would have to face number one challenger Sergiy Derevyanchenko next. This news should be met with relief from boxing fans who are hoping to see Alvarez square off with WBO middleweight champion Demetrius Andrade in September.
Alvarez could’ve asked for an exception from the IBF to proceed with a high stakes undisputed clash with Andrade. Although, this admittance in error makes things much more easier and smoother for the two sides to discuss a deal.
There’s still no word on who Alvarez will be facing in September. However, the likes of Gennady Golovkin, Callum Smith and Sergey Kovalev have been mentioned as possibilities. As for what’s next for Derevyanchenko, that’s still unknown at the moment.
3kingsboxing.comwill continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as they become available.
