Rakhimov vs Castellanos for IBO title
BoxNation will present another quality bout between IBO Super-Featherweight champion Shavkatdzhon Rakhimov (12-0, 9 KOs) vs Robinson Castellanos (24-13, 14 KOs).
Former WBC Silver Featherweight titlist Castellanos (36 y.o.) has gained fame for winning fights he should have lost. Despite his record, he has played the role of spoiler plenty of times in his career.
The Mexican fighter has victories over quality fighters such as Ronny Rios, Rocky Juarez, Celestino Caballero and Yuriorkis Gamboa.
Although his first attempt at a major title that ended in defeat against Jezreel Corrales, he still remains ranked #6 by the WBC and shouldn’t be taken lightly.
IBO Super-Featherweight champion Rakhimov (24 y.o.) is taking a good step up in class fight. Even though he holds the belt, it’s not listed as one of the four major sanctioning bodies.
Also, the IBF ranks him inside the top 10. This fight will be a test for the young champion; to see if he’s ready to challenge some of the bigger names in the division.
The Russian fighter will have the advantage in height, power and home town crowd.
Meanwhile, Castellanos will bring his big-fight experience and rough, aggressive style to keep the champion off balance.
This will be a classic boxing bout: the youthful southpaw fighter vs the experienced crafty veteran.
