Naoya Inoue vs Nonito Donaire set for November 7 in Tokyo!
During the month of July, 3KingsBoxing reported on Naoya Inoue and Nonito Donaire beginning their training for their WBSS bantamweight finals bout. Also, during an event for supporters of the Ohashi Gym in Yokohama, Japan, Inoue’s handlers announced the fight would happen in November.
We now have learned not only the exact date, but the location of the fight. The match between IBF/WBA “regular” bantamweight champion Inoue and WBA “super” champion Donaire will take place on November 7. The fight will air from Saitama Super Arena in Tokyo, Japan on DAZN.
What’s interesting is given this fight’s magnitude, it will take place on a Thursday. Furthermore, given Inoue’s rising worldwide popularity and Donaire’s established resume, you would expect a Friday or a Saturday event. This is usually more suitable for a big bout airing on a high profile streaming outfit like DAZN.
Despite the fact the fight between will happen on an odd day of the week, this is still a mega-fight within the smaller-weights.
The 36 year-old Donaire will be the decided underdog, while the 26 year-old Inoue is the heavy favorite. However, what both fighters share is the ability to punch and punch hard with either hand. So, given that factor, look for this fight to be an explosive one, however long it lasts.
