The Ultimate Show of Respect!

The World Boxing Super Series tournament has provided the boxing world with some of the most memorable moments. That will forever be engraved in the analogs of boxing history. The famous words, “On this day,” will follow when referencing the tournament.

The unification contest between champions Nonito “The Filipino Flash” Donaire and Naoya “The Monster” Inoue, in a Fight of the Year candidate, showed the entire boxing community stuff that legends are made from.

It will be challenging to find anyone who would have believed that Donaire would turn back the hands of time to a period where he once reigned supreme in the lower weight division. However, he did exact that. The Filipino Flash proceeded to remind the boxing community that the old lion had one great performance left in him.

Inoue, being heavily tested for the first time in his short career, was also up for the challenge. In the championship rounds, The Monster went into another level, earning the Muhammad Ali trophy. However the real story isn’t about the performance of these two great gladiators. Afterwards, the ultimate show of respect would prove boxing is still a gentleman’s sport.

Donaire previously promised his family to bring home the Muhammad Ali trophy. Inoue would allow the former world champion to fulfill that promise and borrow the trophy to take home. The 36-year-old former champion was moved so immensely, he took to social media to praise the unified champion for the kind gesture.

This will undoubtedly increase the already growing popularity of the newly crowned unified champion.

Immediately following, Top Rank announced signing the Japanese mega star. The boxing community will be seeing more of the explosive unified champion and 2020 looks to be another great year for the sport of boxing.
