Kazuto Ioka defeats McWilliams Arroyo by Unanimous Decision

Kazuto Ioka has made a successful return to the ring after announcing his retirement back in January. He stands victorious in defeating McWilliams Arroyo by unanimous (99-90, 97-92, 97-92) as part of SuperFly3.

Ioka (23-3, 13 KOs) started behind a high guard fighting in a tight circle throwing combinations to the head and body. Meanwhile, Arroyo (17-4-1) came forward utilizing the left jab. Both contestants are very technically sound boxers. Both fighters preved sharp and focused as the action grew intense early.

Starting in the second and third rounds, Ioka did a good job of varying his combinations. He targeted both the body and head of Arroyo. At the end of the third round, Arroyo was floored with a classic left-right combination square on the chin.

Ioka’s tempo increased in round four. He started fighting aggressively; coming forward and landing right hands up top and left hooks to the body. Arroyo remained competitive however, landing occasional uppercuts up the middle. He landed a big right hand to Ioka’s head to close out round five.

The diversified attack continued through the middle rounds as the former three division champ always seemed a step ahead; not outboxing, but outworking Arroyo. At the end of the ninth round, McWilliams was clearly trailing. A good competitive fight, but Ioka was the better fighter throughout.
