Badou Jack crushes the body of Dervin Colina

Two-time champion Badou “The Ripper” Jack will not get a chance to avenge his loss to Jean Pascal. The WBA ‘Regular’ Light Heavyweight champion tested positive for three different substances, which resulted in their rematch being canceled. However, all is not lost. The Ripper will be able to take his frustration out on undefeated Dervin “El Diamante” Colina (15-0, 13ko).

Little is known about Colina. The 33-year-old Venezuelan native will be fighting outside of his country for the first time. El Diamante made his pro debut as a cruiserweight. Furthermore, he has competed in both, the super middleweight and light heavyweight divisions while being ranked #13 by the WBA as a super middleweight. He has a high knockout ratio against subpar opponents. This is a big opportunity for the unknown Colina, but will he be able to deal with an angry Jack?

AN ANGRY JACK WAS ON A SEARCH AND DESTROY MODE

From the moment the bell sounded, The Ripper was on a mission. He came out building everything off the jab. Jack focused on the soft belly of his opponent, landing hard hooks the body. On top of that, the straight right hand was too much for the overmatched opponent. Colina started holding so much that he got deducted a point in the second and third rounds.

It was clear this fight was about to be over. Right on cue, in the fourth round, The Ripper went on the attack using the jab to force his opponent to the ropes and unloaded with a good left hook that dropped Colina. Despite getting up, the unknown challenger would taste the canvas again from a brutal left hook to the body. With the three knockdown rule in effect, Colina got up only to go down from two crushing body shots for the final time.

Jack undoubtedly saw the face of Pascal with every punch thrown tonight. The Ripper is ranked number three by the WBC, and it will be interesting if a title shot is next on the table.
