“Rosado is a gatekeeper!” –

With only days away from his next fight, Daniel “Miracle Man” Jacobs (36-3, 30 KO’s) is eager to silence his next opponent. And on November 27, he will get a shot to shut the mouth of “King” Gabriel Rosado (25-12-1, 14 KO’s). The two have shared an open and well-documented feud for years. Although, until now, Jacobs has never really felt that it was worth his time to take on Rosado.

Even with their bout so close at hand the former world champion does not believe that King Rosado is on his level. And to illustrate this point, as he revealed to IFL TV, he insists that the odds makers do not lie.

“I don’t think it’ll [a win over Rosado] catapult in any type of way because… what are the odds? 30 to 1 or something like that? I don’t know. It’s not to brag but it’s just kind of is what it is. But at the same time, I am just looking to go out there and give a great show with a guy who I know is very durable who is going to put on a valiant effort.”

THE CONSEQUENCES OF DISPRESPECT

On the one hand, Jacobs does understand that Rosado is no chump and will be coming to take his head off. On the other hand however, the Miracle Man finds the stature that Rosado has given himself amusing.

“It’s laughable every time! It’s not to take away from anything that he offers or his past fights or his heart and his grit. Because he has that, but at the same time there’s also levels. I’ve been criticized a lot for even taking this fight! But at the same time I know that it’s still going to make for a great show. But it is not because of who he is or it’s not because of what he does and his star power or me having him on my resume.”

“…I thought that it was weird that he would say something to the effect of I am choosing him because of me wanting Gabe Rosado on my resume. I mean, yeah, I want to hurt this man, yeah I want him to eat his words for all the disrespectful things that he said to me as a man. And I have that opportunity because as fighters that’s where we settle our differences, in the ring. But at the same time I don’t feel a win over him would catapult me in anyway. I mean I am in a position right now, even if I didn’t take him as an opponent, I’m still in a position to get a world championship opportunity.”

DON’T PLAY WITH ME!

Yet, underneath all the back-and-forth and animosity, Jacobs simply views Rosado as a colorful gatekeeper. A gatekeeper that he looks forward to beating up for issuing what he believes are slanderous comments.

“There is a skillset difference between us both, you know? Gabe Rosado is, in my opinion, a gatekeeper. He’s a good gate keeper and he’s a durable one and he puts up a valiant effort, ones that most boxing fans appreciate. Like he has a good story, he doesn’t come from an extensive amateur background.”

“And he’s able to be in these top fights and give these top challengers and champions a good show. For me it’s like you can have that but just don’t discredit what I’ve done because what I’ve done is on a whole other level than you have ever obtained.”
