Jai Opetaia Wants To Unify After Beating Jack Massey
IBF cruiserweight champion Jai Opetaia (26-0, 20KO) brutally ran over Jack “One-Smack” Massey (22-3, 12KO) for the sixth-round stoppage.
It was clear Opetaia was on a different level, as he used that superior footwork, jab, and straight left hand to take control of the fight. After getting caught by a couple of straight right hands, the Aussie would fire off eye-catching combination shots.
One-Smack’s face started to show the wear and tear of taking too many shots. Nothing was working for the Brit, who was frozen by a vicious body shot. Yet, Massey refused to give up and kept trying to fight back.
There was no reason to let this fight continue as Opetaia repeatedly landed whatever punch he threw. He cranked up the offense with different variations of brutal body shots and hooks. In round six, the IBF champ landed a punishing flurry of shots that forced Massey’s corner to throw in the towel.
During the in-ring post-fight interview, Opetaia expressed wanting to unify. His eyes are locked on facing the winner between WBO champion Chris Billam-Smith and Gilberto Ramirez on November 16.
