Jamaine Ortiz Knocksdown Cristian Mino 4 Times For The Win
Looking to make a statement, junior welterweight Jamaine “The Technician” Ortiz (18-2-1, 9KO) overpowered “Piedrita” Cristian Ruben Mino (24-19-2, 17KO) for the stoppage.
From the start of the bell, The Technician went into aggressive mode and unloaded hard shots on the smaller Mino. After landing a barrage of painful shots, Ortiz dropped the Argentinian early in the first round.
Despite surviving the round, Piedrita was sent back down to the canvas in rounds two and three. He was deducted a point for a takedown out of retaliation against Ortiz. Mino showed tremendous toughness but finally was stopped as a fourth knockdown ended the fight in four rounds.
It was the statement-making performance that Ortiz needed to get some buzz going around his name. In the post-fight interview, he revealed a hit list of names featuring WBA champion Jose Valenzuela and a rematch with WBO champion Teofimo Lopez.
This version of Ortiz seems to be an offensive force and could be a problem for anyone in the division.
