Alimkhanuly Should Move To The Super Middleweight Division

It was a triumphant homecoming for unified middleweight champion Janibek “Qazaq Style” Alimkhanuly (17-0, 12 KOs). Despite the champion feeling there’s business to take care of at 160, now is the time for him to leave the middleweight division and campaign at 168.

The Kazakhstani destroyed France’s Anauel Ngamissengue in front of a home crowd. Ngamssengue fought his heart out and landed an occasional hard shot. But, Alimkhanuly was too slick and had far more firepower. The unified champion broke down the Frenchman with an assortment of punches to the head and body.

With fifteen seconds to go in round five, Qazak Style put Ngassengue down with a series of left hands. The challenger got up and was severely hurt forcing the referee to put a halt to the contest.

Although some want to see Alimkhanuly face rival and reigning WBC middleweight champion Carlos Adamas, this is the reality the middleweight division has lost its luster.

There are bigger matchups for Qazaq Style, like former champion Caleb Plant, world title challenger Edgar Berlanga, or a fight with unified champion Canelo Alvarez. He has the skill and talent to give any of those fighters pure hell inside the boxing ring.

Alimkhanuly has created a solid legacy as a middleweight. But to get the big fights and big money he wants, it would behoove him to leave the division.
