Heavyweight prospect Jared Anderson Targeting Top 10 Ranked Fighters

The heavyweight division has done a good job of refreshing the tree with young talent. One of the hottest prospects is Jared “Big Baby” Anderson (12-0, 12KO). Big Baby put on an excellent display of power and skill against Miljan Rovcanin (24-3, 16KO) as the co-main event of Jose Pedraza versus Richard Commey.

Anderson came off a lengthy layoff and quickly dismissed any questions about possible ring rust. The decorated amateur clipped Rovcanin with compact right hooks before flatlining him in the second round.

Shortly after the fight, Anderson called for a fight with IBF mandatory challenger Filip Hrgovic or anyone inside the top ten.

“I would really love that fight, being realistically we don’t know how far we are from that fight. But I would love that fight, Filip Hrgovic, anybody in the top ten of the IBF, WBO, and WBC. We looking to get some bigger names. Everybody keeps asking for bigger fights, and we would love to have those big fights.”

It is good to see Big Baby wanting to mix it up with someone like Hrgovic, but that fight isn’t on the horizon as Hrgovic is in line to fight for the title.

POSSIBLE FUTURE OPPONENTS

Yet, if Anderson is looking for a top ten dance partner, there are other names to look forward to. Martin Bakole (18-1, 13KO) would be a good match-up. He shocked the boxing community after defeating fringe contender Tony Yoka in May. The 29-year-old come-forward, pressure fighter is ranked inside the top ten at #5 (WBA), and #7 (IBF) with a sole defeat by Michael Hunter in 2018.

Next, Ali Eren Demirezen (17-1, 12KO) is ranked #10 (WBO) and is a good, cagey fighter coming off of victories against Adam Kownacki and former world title challenger Gerald Washington. His only defeat came at the hands of Anderson’s stablemate, Efe Ajagba, in 2019.

An easy fight to make is with Arslanbek Makhmudov (14-0, 14KO), who will fight Carlos Takam on September 16. This would be a good fight as both men have stopped all of their opponents and fight under the same Top Rank Promotional banner. Moreover, Big Baby called for a fight with #6 (WBC, WBA) contender Makhmudov ASAP.

The possibilities are endless for Big Baby, and he is primed to make a move in the division soon.
