Jason Quigley calls out Demetrius Andrade!
Moments after his majority decision victory over Shane Mosley Jr (17-4, 10KOs), Jason Quigley (19-1, 14KOs) turned his attention towards unbeaten WBO middleweight champion Demetrius “Boo Boo” Andrade.
In his post fight interview, he made a case as to why he should be the next man to challenge the champion from Rhode Island.
“You’re always saying nobody wants to fight you. I have a title, you have the main title. Give me a crack at your title.”
Quigley, who hails from Ireland is a solid fighter with good power. He is ranked #14 by the WBO and #15 within the IBF and his been on champ’s radar as a possible opponent previously. Prior to facing Luke Keeler, Andrade had a tough time finding an opponent. Quigley was mentioned as a possible opponent and Andrade had no problems fighting him then.
However, that was over a year ago. Although, Quigley picked up the WBO-NABO title he’s not likely to get a shot in the near future. This is because Andrade is fiercely trying to get a big fight on his resume.
The champ is looking for bigger fish to fry and Quigley doesn’t equate to the type of fighter he’s seeking out. So while you respect his eagerness to face the champ, unless this match-up is mandated, it’s just not a fight that makes much sense.
