Joe Joyce Returns to the Win Column With Stoppage Over Kash Ali
Looking to bounce back from two devastating knockout defeats, heavyweight “Juggernaut” Joe Joyce (16-2, 15KO) scored the stoppage over Kash Ali (21-3, 12KO).
It was your typical Joyce kind of fight as he came forward off the front foot, throwing punches in bunches. He continued to mix up the attack, landing hard shots on the body and head of his opponent.
Ali came alive a little and started finding a home for the right hand with relative ease. In addition, he had some success landing counter shots, taking advantage of Juggernaut’s lack of head movement.
Nonetheless, Joyce’s pressure and body attack wore down Ali, who was in retreat mode after taking repeated shots round after round. Even when Ali landed the right hand, it did nothing to stop the former WBO interim champion’s momentum.
In round ten, Joyce landed a series of punches that put Ali on the canvas, and the referee reached the count of ten. Despite getting the knockout stoppage, he still had no head movement and got hit by the same shot over and over.
The silver lining here is a trilogy fight with Zhilei Zhang could be next, as he recently suffered a disappointing loss to Joseph Parker on March 8.
