Joe Joyce Welcomes the Option to Fight Anthony Joshua Next

On April 15, heavyweight contender “Juggernaut” Joe Joyce (15-0, 14KO) is all set to take on Zhilei Zhang (24-1-1, 19KO) in a stay-busy fight. However, Joyce is open to facing two-time unified champion Anthony “AJ” Joshua (24-3, 22KO) afterward.

Joyce has been trying to get into the championship picture for some time. He picked up the WBO Interim title after stopping former WBO champion Joseph Parker in September 2022. With all eyes on the return of AJ taking on Jermaine Franklin, Juggernaut’s name came up as a promising opponent.

While being interviewed by iFL TV, Joshua expressed interest in a fight with Joyce and was candid when explaining why.

“Joe Joyce interests me the most. . . I like the Joe Joyce fight as well. I think that’s one that interests people, and Joe Joyce is from the same country as me. So, it makes sense.”

As the holder of the WBO Interim title, Joyce is on track for a hopeful showdown with unified champion Oleksandr Usyk. The boxing world witnessed the collapse of the undisputed talks between Usyk and WBC champion Tyson Fury fall apart. However, Team Usyk hopes that the fight can be revisited later in the year.

Equally important, WBA Regular champion Daniel “Dynamite” Dubois could be Uysk’s next opponent. So, Joyce could be waiting a while for a shot at the titles. All things considered, he should look to heavily pursue a fight with Joshua, providing they both are victorious in their upcoming match-ups.
