Jose Ramirez vs Josh Taylor: The Battle For Undisputed
WBC/WBO junior welterweight champion Jose Ramirez (26-0, 17ko) and WBA/IBF champion Josh Taylor (17-0, 13ko) are done talking! Now it’s time to see who the top dog of the division is!
Both of these champions have engaged in their fair share of trash talking that has been documented since 2020. Ramirez was eager to jump at the opportunity of fighting Taylor, even if it meant going to Taylor’s hometown of Scotland.
“I would jump at the opportunity to fight Josh Taylor in Scotland. I would make him respect me more than I would respect him.”
Taylor’s career has skyrocketed since winning the World Boxing Super Series tournament. En route to winning, he defeated the likes of former IBF champion Ivan Baranchyk and former WBA champ Regis Prograis. Taylor’s confidence is at an all-time high! Do not be surprised if he is not impressed at all by Ramirez.
“I believe he is a one-dimensional….I actually think I am going to knock Ramirez out.”
With the heavyweight undisputed bout dead in the water right now, all eyes are focused on these two champions. Both men stepped on the scale at a fit 139.6lbs. Even after the intense stare down they got into a shoving altercation backstage where the fighters had to be separated.
There is real animosity between these two champions and that is more than enough for the fans to get the popcorn ready to see this fight.
It is time to see who will backup their words. Catch the undisputed showdown live on ESPN at the Virgin Hotels in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 22. The main card starts at 8:30 PM ET with Taylor and Ramirez expected to enter the ring at 11:00 PM ET.
