Taylor Walks Away With Narrow Victory Over Serrano By UD
In a battle for the undisputed junior welterweight titles, Katie “KT” Taylor (24-1, 6KO) retained the title in the rematch over Amanda “The Real Deal” Serrano (47-3-1, 31KO) by unanimous decision.
Unlike the first fight, The Real Deal came forward and made a statement early after landing a left hand that hurt Taylor in round one. She kept up the pressure and landed more straight left hands and body shots with Taylor trapped in the corner.
Yet, Taylor adjusted by throwing fast combinations and held whenever they were close. She found a groove and started moving around the ring to nullify Serrano’s pressure.
Serrano suffered a bad cut after two accidental headbutts. She kept coming forward landing body shots and landed hard punches when the undisputed champion stopped moving.
Taylor took advantage of the cut and tagged her opponent repeatedly, working off the backfoot. More drama arose as the referee took a point from her for headbutting.
In the closing rounds, they went to war as Taylor decided to stand and trade, landing hard countershots. Serrano fought like a warrior and closed out the final round strong.
All three judges scored it 95-94 for Taylor. Immediately following the decision there were cries of robbery. However, 3Kingsboxing agrees that KT won the fight.
