Sergey Kovalev vs Anthony Yarde finally has a date and location set for their WBO light heavyweight championship clash.

3kingsboxing.com has learned the fight will take place on Saturday, August 24. The bout will air from the champion’s backyard of Russia.

However, there’s a twist. Bob Arum, who co-promotes Kovalev alongside Kathy Duva, has confirmed that a deal is in place with Frank Warren. Yarde will receive a step-aside fee and will face former WBO super middleweight champion Gilberto Ramirez.

That, of course, is in the case that Canelo Alvarez gets his way and is able to challenge Kovalev for his WBO title.

However, Yarde’s trainer and manager Tunde Ajayi went to social media to categorically deny all parts of the agreement.

3kingsboxing.com will continue to monitor this story and provide updates as they become available.
