Mauricio Lara Stops Emilio Sanchez in Three!

In their latest duel, featherweight fighters Mauricio “Bronco” Lara (43-2-1, 17 KO’s) took on Emilio Sanchez (19-2, 12 KO’s). Under the hot lights of the Penchenga Arena, located in San Diego, California, their bout provided support to the Roman Gonzalez versus Julio Cesar Martinez main event. It was the first prize fight for Lara since his draw in a rematch with Josh Warrington in September 2021.

The bout, an immediate rematch, was halted after an accidental headbutt opened a gruesome gash on Lara. The Mexican was hoping to rough up and stop Warrington as he had their previous encounter, yet instead of glory or satisfaction, he got stitches.

Due to this, Bronco must surely feel snake-bitten in regard to Warrington. It’d be understandable after having been short-changed a title attempt in one bout and badly cut and injured in the next. Nevertheless, the #3 (IBF) and #4 (WBO) ranked boxer had put those frets behind him and was ready to shine versus Sanchez.

HOLDING NOTHING BACK

This one got off to a blazing start as Lara came out big-game hunting. Midway through round one, he put down Sanchez with a right hand to the chin. Sanchez did well in fighting back hard, but he was stunned again with a series of shots at the end of round two.

The only way to describe round three is pure, unadulterated violence. Lara’s weakness is that he’s weak up the gut. Midway through the round, he was hurt from body shots and looked on the verge of being stopped

Then just like that, a Lara right-hand shook Sanchez late in the round. With fifteen seconds to go, Lara pounced like a pit-bull at the sight of blood. A series of shots that ended with a devastating right-hand-left hook put Sanchez down and out just before the bell to end the round!

This action-packed, nine minutes of war supplied more action and excitement found in some twelve-rounders. Consider this an early pick for 3Kings Boxing’s 2022 Fight of the Year.
