Lawsuit By Caribe Is Dismissed

Emergency Order Denied

3KingsBoxing.com reported earlier this week thatCaribe Promotions, Co-promoters for Guillermo Rigondeaux, had filed suit in New York against Roc Nation who are the primary promotional company. Caribe claimed that Roc Nation froze them out of negotiations with Top Rank promoter for tonight’s big fight against WBO super featherweight champion Vasyl Lomachenko.

A federal judgein New York dismissed the lawsuit that was sought by Caribe calling for an emergency order that would’ve allowed the Miami based company to become involved in tonight’s fight.

Luis Fonseca, Caribe’s vice president, feels they were froze outbecause of the refusal to pay $108,000 in expenses from Rigondeaux’sfight in June. They also noted they are in arbitration with Roc Nation for breach of agreement, the purpose for the lawsuit was because arbitration won’t be resolved until after the Lomachenko vs Rigondeaux fight.

Although the fight was probably never in danger of being canceled from this it is nice to have closure so this won’t take away from the attention this fight deserves.
