3kingsboxing has learned WBA Cruiserweight champion in recess Denis Lebedev (30-2-1, 22 KOs) is set to return.

Many may not remember, but he first starting his career as a light-heavyweight. However, most of his success came at cruiserweight.

Lebedev (38), is a former unified champion who once held both the WBA and IBF cruiserweight titles. His only two losses came at the hands of two of the best in the division.

After losing his first major title opportunity to Marco Huck in 2010, he had an impressive run (8-1-1) in his next 10 fights.

However, there have been some strange moments in his career.

He opted out of the WBSS tournament becaming the only champion to do so. In result, the WBA had no choice but to place him in recess.

Consequently, they ended up elevating then WBA Regular champion Yunier Dorticos to full status.

Being in recess means that at anytime Lebedev can challenge whoever holds the WBA title.

The Russian born fighter has had a seventeen-year career with wins over legends like Roy Jones Jr. and James Toney.

Lebedev hasn’t fought since July 2017 but will return September 7 at the Traktor Sport Palace, Chelyabinsk.

An opponent has yet to be named but 3kingsboxing will continue to follow this story and provide updates as they are available.
