Liam Davies Runs Over Erik Robles In Two Rounds
In a super bantamweight showdown, Liam Davies (16-0, 8KO) scored a statement-making knockout over Erik Robles (15-2, 9KO) for the fringe IBO title.
This fight started with an aggressive Davies on the attack from the opening bell. He fought well behind the jab and went to the body early. It was clear he was on a mission. In round two, he landed a punishing uppercut, left hook combination that laid Robles on the canvas.
As his opponent got back on his feet, Davies attacked with relentless aggression, landing a series of answered shots that forced the referee to stop the fight. It’s the kind of performance that would get people talking in a division ruled by undisputed kingpin Naoya Inoue.
Ranked #5 (WBC), and #8 (IBF), Davies proved to have learned a lot from his last fight where he tasted the canvas for the first time against Vincenzo La Femina. In the post-fight interview, he called for big things to come in 2024.
