“If you really want to fight me, don’t need words”
Well it looks as if Ryan Garcia is serious about stepping up his competition, a former three-division world champion is more than happy to oblige him.
After completely destroying Romero Duno in one round, Garcia mentioned that he would like to face Jorge Linares next. Apparently, Linares got wind of those comments and didn’t take that callout well at all. He warned Garcia in a social media post.
“Ryan G if you feel prepared enough for something big then let’s fight. But this time it won’t be just training.
This time how many rounds can you do, because I remember you could only do some rounds, when we sparred. So that you can win 3 world titles you have to stop talking so much and fight with boxers of truth.
If you really want to fight me, don’t need words.”
There you have it! It’s clear from his statement that Linares is not with the talking and all about action.
At 34 years of age, Linares presents a challenge unseen by Garcia before as a professional fighter. Assuming there is truth to Linares’ words regarding the sparring session, his message to Garcia is understandable.
Linares has been stopped multiple times in his career. However, he is a tremendous fighter with a wealth of experience, having claimed titles in three different weight classes. He’s also shared the ring with Vasyl Lomachenko, giving him absolute hell before succumbing to a vicious body shot in the tenth round back in May of 2018. He also scored the only knock down of Lomachenko in his professional career.
I say let’s make the fight happen. It would be a great test for the powerful unbeaten Garcia.
