Lindolfo Delgado Stops Jackson Marinez in Round 5
Hoping for an eye-opening performance, Lindolfo Delgado (22-0, 16 KOs) delivered during a fifth-round stoppage over Jackson Marinez (22-4, 10 KOs) at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona.
Delgado took a few rounds to find the range against the elusive Marinez. He was making the mistake of loading up with one shot. In round three, the resident of Linares, Mexico started to focus his attack on Marinez’s body and focused on scoring with combinations. That’s when he began to find success.
With seventy seconds to go in the fifth, a right uppercut from Delgado put Marinez down on one knee. Seconds later, Delgado ended matters with a vicious right hand to the solar plexus. Currently ranked eighth by the WBC and tenth by the WBO at 140, the victor is climbing the ladder towards a possible world title shot in 2025.
