Teofimo Lopez looking forward to bigger challenges at junior welterweight!
Rising lightweight prospect Teofimo Lopez’ (12-0, 10KO) days are numbered at lightweight. The talented and exciting prospect has stated it’s getting harder to make 135 pound limit.
Lopez, who plans to fight four or five times this year remains focused on not only a title shot, but an opportunity against unified champion Vasiliy Lomachenko.
However, there’s one stipulation! It has to happened this year! if it doesn’t, Lopez has stated that it won’t happen unless at a catch-weight.
While fans should love his attitude towards wanting to prove himself, he must realize that he currently sits in no position to make demands when it comes to facing Lomachenko; a three division champion.
Lopez will be action April 20 against Edis Tatli (31-2, 10KO) on the under-card of Terence Crawford vs Amir Khan. This will be his second of the proposed 4-5 fights for 2019.
As he is currently ranked in the top five in all four major sanctioning bodies, a win will without a doubt move him closer to a title shot sooner than later.
