Teofimo Lopez remains confident, wants a title fight
Teofimo Lopez spoke to reporters after the devastating knockout victory against Diego Magdaleno February 2. The brash Brooklyn fighter expressed wanting to fight the top guys and talked about being a champion.
Never shy with words and full of confidence, this young undefeated fighter is well known throughout the boxing community.
When asked about fighting unified lightweight champion Vasiliy Lomachenko and WBC champion Mikey Garcia, he replied:
“Absolutely, you fight the best. You beat the best in order to be the best. To everybody, they are the best. To me, they not.
“But in order to shut the critics up, is by putting us in line with them.”
Lopez, caught a little backlash for what some felt was poor sportsmanship after the fight against Magdaleno in which he responded: “This is entertainment!”
He would then tell the media his next fight would be April 20 on the undercard of the WBO welterweight title fight between Terence Crawford and Amir Khan.
His win over Magdaleno created a lot of buzz for the young fighter and fans will be waiting for April 20!
