Erickson Lubin vs Terrell Gausha is On!

Following his June 29 bout with Zakaria Attou, super welterweight Erickson “The Hammer” Lubin (21-1, 16 KO’s) openly called out fellow contender Terrell Gausha (21-1-1, 10 KO’s).

Lubin let it be known he felt that Gausha was one of the best in the division and that’s why he wanted to face the Cleveland fighter. Once those sentiments went public, the two engaged in some very public exchanges.

At the time it appeared that a prizefight was imminent, yet in the end the tantalizing bout fizzled out…until now. 3kingsboxing has learned the two are scheduled to fight on October 26. The competitive bout will be staged in Santander Arena, located in Reading, Pennsylvania and aired live on SHOWTIME.

Both are in a solid, upward swing in their careers and both are hungry for a title shot. In his last bout, Gausha received a questionable draw when virtually all who witnessed the bout felt that he handily defeated his opponent and former WBA champion Austin Trout.

Since that time, Gausha has been searching for the proper prizefight to lift him up another notch on the ladder to championship contention.

Lubin is now three fights away from his devastating first round loss to Jermell Charlo in his first shot at a title. The Hammer has rebounded from that critical setback with three consecutive wins, the best of which came against long in the tooth Ishe Smith.

Now, he is ready to jump back in the deep end of the competitive waters.

In terms of rankings, Lubin will take the upper-hand. He is ranked #2 and #5 while Gausha is ranked #14 and #13 respectively by the WBC and the WBA. Neither is ranked by the IBF nor the WBO.

If either fighter enjoys a good showing against the other it would certainly do wonders for putting them in position for a title shot. Not only is their bout destined to be a great stylistic match-up, it is a meaningful bout for the overall division.
